Rare G&L ASAT Classic

Mint condition ... like new

Rare guitar.

At first, we thought this was one of
the 350 or so "Commemorative" series
ASATs made in the 1991-1992
timeframe. However, the
Commemorative guitars had gold
hardware and the headstock had
"Commemorative" on it.

Not one of those.

Then we thought it must be one of the
Signature series ASATs made later.
Turns out however that the Signature
Series did not have bound necks as
this one has.

Thanks to the help of Greg Gagliano
(writes for various guitar periodicals,
including "Vintage Guitar Magazine")
and an expert on Fender and G&L
guitars, the mystery of this guitar's
identity has finally been solved.

In October-November of 1991
approximately 10 prototype guitars
were produced by G&L that led to the
release of the "Commemorative"
series. Some were built with bound
rosewood fingerboards, some with
maple.

This guitar is one of the prototypes
and as such is extremely rare.
