The Bay State Monarch is essentially a
classical guitar with extreme steel
string lineage. Its' steel string lineage
shows up in its' string finger spacing (1
3/4") and Atlantic size body. As a
result, a steel player would feel right at
home playing this instrument. The only
difference would be in the response of
the classical strings vs. their steel
counterparts. The instrument may feel
like a steel string but it has that sweet
tone of the classical instrument!
Although its' bracing is classical
(Santos Hernandez), the guitar utilizes
a double mortise and tenon fully
mechanical neck joint, Bay State
rosette, semi-hemispherical frets, and
Tone Enhancer™ technologies from its'
steel string brethren. In spite of its'
lineage, the guitar is still very much a
classical instrument. The instrument
features a german spruce top, indian
rosewood back and sides, ebony
fretboard and brazilian rosewood
bridge. All purfling detail on the
instrument is done in the classical
manner.
